Research at the Norwegian Police University College is conducted within four focus areas: The police force as a societal institution; The organisation, culture and behaviour of the police force; Police strategy, practice and methods; and Challenges facing the police. Knowledge is communicated through teaching, series of reports, books, journal articles, and at conferences.
Police science is a cross-disciplinary field of research developing both nationally and internationally through the appearance of new professional environments and research-based courses of education. Critical and constructive research at the Norwegian Police University College contributes to the development of knowledge-based police work and the linking of police science to police practice. Our researchers also conduct evaluations and advice to central authorities and knowledge extension to society in general.
Researchers at the Norwegian Police University College participate in national and international research networks. The college hosts a 2-day conference every year.
