- Norwegian citizenship
- Good character/no criminal record
- Certificate of General Secondary Education
- Driving licence – Class B
- Aged 20 years or more in the year of admittance
- Swimming proficiency
- Good health, ie meet applicable health standards (normal colour vision, and eyesight without correction in both eyes of no less than 5/10, 6/12, 0,5)
- Required personal maturity and character to serve as a police officer
- Passed the physical tests determined by the Norwegian Police University College
In the overall assessment the following will also carry weight:
- Communication skills – oral and written
- Motivation and a considered attitude to the role of the police
- Maturity, including empathy and judgement
- Natural authority and presence
- Initiative and dedication
- Self-awareness (positive and negative aspects of own character)
